Dorchester County man arrested on meth charges when deputies show up with warrant

Rusty Norris, 46, of Miles Road in Dorchester County is accused of manufacturing and possession of methamphetamine.

A Dorchester County man was charged with making meth Tuesday after deputies serving a warrant on a woman encountered a strong chemical smell at the house, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies went to 1007 Miles Road to serve an order of detention on a woman there, Chief Deputy Sam Richardson said. The woman was taken into custody and to a hospital for evaluation.

Deputies removed a man from the house and called in the narcotics unit because of the smell. They got a search warrant and found numerous items consistent with manufacturing methamphetamine in the red phosphorus and “one pot” method, Richardson said.
