Deputies investigating how teen got cut at Coastal Carolina Fair

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating how a teen got cut Sunday at the Coastal Carolina Fair.

The 16-year-old said he sat down near the Magnum ride for a moment around 7:20 p.m. and when he got back up, he noticed blood on his left side, according to the incident report. He said he had no idea how the injury occurred and had not had any altercations.

Deputies escorted him to the medical office, where he appeared to have a puncture wound, according to the report.

“Detectives are following up with the victim to determine how he sustained the puncture wound,” Lt. Rita Zelinsky said in an email. “At this time, there is no evidence to suggest that the victim was assaulted; however, the investigation is ongoing.”
