Daily chance of thunderstorms settles into Lowcountry forecast

A chance of showers and thunderstorms will hang in the Lowcountry air most every day during the coming week as the area settles into a summertime weather pattern, according to the National Weather Service.

By Tuesday, some of the storms could be severe, according to the Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center.

But forecasters at the North Charleston office expected only isolated storms Sunday afternoon, when the high temperate will be about 86 degrees.

They also warned of a moderate risk for rip currents Sunday along the South Carolina coast.

Here are the details of the extended forecast:

Sunday: Isolated showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 86. Calm wind becoming southeast 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. Southeast wind 3 to 8 mph.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 87. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon.

Monday night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. South wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. South wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Tuesday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Wednesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Wednesday night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.

Thursday night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
