The cruise-ferry Nova Star will arrive Tuesday in Charleston for temporary berthing during the winter season.
The ship, which operates seasonally between Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, and Portland, Maine, is expected about 6 a.m.
“Moving Nova Star to Charleston, a much warmer climate than its current berth in Nova Scotia, will reduce costs for the remainder of the offseason, and ensure the cruise-ferry is in a ready-state if alternate work is secured,” said Mark Amundsen, president and CEO, Nova Star Cruises, operator of Nova Star.
Nova Star left Shelburne, Nova Scotia, on Thursday and sailed at a reduced speed to Charleston. The cruise-ferry will return to Nova Scotia just prior to the start of the 2015 season. Nova Star Cruises is responsible for berthing fees in Charleston.
