Coroner: One person dead after being pulled from water off Sullivan’s Island

One of the three people pulled from the water Tuesday afternoon off Sullivan’s Island has died, authorities said.

Sullivan’s Island Fire and Rescue got a call at 4:12 p.m. that people were in trouble in the water at Station 281/2, according to a firefighter at the station. All three were taken to East Cooper Medical Center for treatment.

Multiple media outlets reported late Tuesday that the Charleston County Coroner’s Office said one of them had died.

No names had been released, and a report on the conditions of the other swimmers was not available.
