A 25-year-old man died in a single-car crash late Saturday within a mile of his Moncks Corner home, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.

He was identified Sunday afternoon as Christopher Cox. Around 9:30 p.m., Cox’s 1995 Chevrolet was northbound on O.T. Wallace Boulevard when it went off the right side of the road, overturned and hit a tree, said Lance Cpl. Judd Jones of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The road runs northeastward from Old U.S. Highway 52 through the Berkeley Country Club Estates community toward the Cooper River.

Cox died at the scene, according to the Highway Patrol. He was wearing a seat belt.
