Coroner: McClellanville man died after being run over by a car

A McClellanville man was killed Saturday night after he was run over by a car while lying in a driveway, according to a news release from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim was identified Sunday as 41-year-old George Cash III, according to the Charleston County Coroner’s Office.

According to deputies, the driver of a blue 2014 Hyundai Sonata was turning into the driveway at 8547 Old Georgetown Road in McClellanville and drove over the victim, who was lying down in the driveway.

Deputies responded just after 8:30 p.m., and Cash was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the release states.

Earlier in the day, the victim had been seen walking around in the area and appeared to have been impaired, according to the release.

Watson said the driver remained at the house after running the victim over, but that no arrests have been made in the case.

The Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division and the Charleston County Coroner’s Office are investigating the incident.
