Coroner identifies teen pedestrian killed on James Island

A 15-year-old James Island boy died Saturday night after being hit by a vehicle while skateboarding on James Island.

Gabriel Seagraves was riding his skateboard just before 9 p.m. on Secessionville Lane, near Mapleton Drive, when he was struck by a vehicle, according to Deputy Charleston County Coroner Kelly Kraus.

Seagraves was taken to Medical University Hospital, where he later died.

No charges have been filed against the driver, according to Charleston Police spokesman Charles Francis. The cause of the accident has not yet been determined.
