A controlled burn is scheduled for Rhoden Island this morning, officials said.

The one-day burn is part of a forestry land management plan for the island, the Daniel Island Property Owners Association announced.

According to Charleston Fire Department spokesman Ryan Kunitzer, prescribed fire managers are scheduled to begin the burn to 100 acres around 10:30 a.m.

Smoke could linger in the area for 48 hours, Kunitzer said.
