MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The operators of a helicopter ride attraction in Myrtle Beach say they will appeal a decision by county officials that could leave them grounded.
Helicopter Adventures opened in May offering helicopter rides from a location near the Broadway at the Beach shopping and entertainment complex.
But the Horry County Zoning Board of Appeals on Wednesday overturned an earlier decision by the county zoning administrator that the helicopters could fly.
Residents had complained about noise from the choppers. Helicopter Adventures later changed the flight path to avoid residential areas.
Helicopter Adventures says it will appeal to a judge to have Wednesday’s decision overturned. The helicopter flights are continuing.
