Columbia police officer fired after off-duty fight

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A Columbia police officer has been fired after he was involved in an off-duty fight.

Police Chief Skip Holbrook said in a statement that 46-year-old Officer Tracy Hudson was fired Tuesday after being involved in a shooting incident at a restaurant and nightclub.

Holbrook said Hudson was fired because of neglect of duty, violating policies and procedures, improper conduct and misuse of handling a weapon and carrying a handgun while off-duty. He had been with the department since 2008.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said Hudson is charged with aggravated assault and battery and pointing a gun.

It was not clear if Hudson has a lawyer.
