Collision involving Hanahan police car under investigation

The Highway Patrol is trying to determine who was at fault after a Hanahan police cruiser and a car collided Tuesday night in North Charleston.

The cruiser’s lights and sirens were activated when the vehicles collided shortly after 6 p.m. at Rivers Avenue and Otranto Road, Capt. Michael Fowler said.

Photos on social media showed significant damage to the police car. The officer was treated at a hospital for cuts and released, Fowler said.

No injuries were reported for the other driver.

Details of the accident were not released Wednesday.
