A new citizens’ group that wants the Charleston County School District to focus on noncharter public schools has made its endorsements for the upcoming school board races.

The group, Citizens Working Together for Great Schools, announced today it supports John Barter, Jim Ramich, Mattese Lecque and Todd Garrett in the countywide elections set for Nov. 6.

The citizens’ group is led by Ginny Deerin, the former campaign manager for Charleston Mayor Joe Riley.

Deerin said the candidates support the the superintendent but want to see a plan, with expected costs and accountability, for achieving the district’s recently launched 2016 Vision goals.
