A 19-year-old Charleston woman died Thursday after a vehicle she was driving went off Interstate 26 and hit a tree, authorities said.

Orangeburg County Chief Deputy Coroner identified the victim as Alexandra Rubino. He said she died at the scene of blunt force trauma as a result of the collision.

According to the S.C. Highway Patrol, Rubino was driving east on the interstate near the Vance Road exit when she apparently lost control of a 1998 Mazda, went off the road and struck a tree. The vehicle caught fire, the patrol said.
