Charleston temperature of 80 degrees breaks record for the date

Wednesday was the hottest day on record for the date in Charleston, according to the National Weather Service.

The thermometer reached 80 degrees at 12:02 p.m. That broke the record high of 79 set in 1982.

Cooler weather moves in Thursday, with a high near 63 expected.

Friday through Sunday should be mostly sunny with highs in the low 60s, according to the Weather Service.
