Charleston police arrested two men and seized four pistols, brass knuckles and a bag of marijuana after officers checked on vehicles behind a West Ashley nightclub early Saturday.

Security guards at Plan B, 2152 Savannah Highway, called police shortly after midnight to investigate some vehicles believed to be involved in illegal activity in back of the club, near CVS pharmacy, according to a police report. A guard told officers he saw a man in a group near the vehicles toss a pistol under a parked car.

Police detained seven men, found the pistol in question and noted a strong odor of marijuana in the area.

During a pat down, officers found a bag with four grams of marijuana in the pocket of Joshua Paul Jones, 20, of Amy Drive in Goose Creek, according to a police report. He was charged with simple possession of the drug.

Officers searched Willie Thompson, 18, of Braden Run Road, in Holly Hill, and found brass knuckles, police said. He was charged with a weapons law violation.

A police dog alerted on two vehicles reportedly tied to the group. Two pistols were found in a Jeep and another handgun was found in a Mercedes, police said. Two of the guns turned out to be stolen; one from Orangeburg, the other from North Charleston. More marijuana also was found in the Mercedes, a report stated.

Police seized the guns but allowed the other five men to go because officers could not prove the men arrived in the vehicles in question, police said.
