Charleston police searching for man accused in reported sexual assault

Police are searching for a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman last month on the peninsula.

Robert Lee Taylor, 52, of Norman Street in Charleston, is wanted on a charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, police said. He’s described as 5-foot-7 and 150 pounds.

Charleston police on Thursday identified Taylor as a suspect in an assault that occurred Jan. 27. A woman had reported being sexually assaulted around 1:30 a.m. on Norman Street near Taylor’s home, according to an incident report.
