The victim of a downtown stabbing had been arguing with the man suspected of killing him for several years, according to the incident report released today.

Wilfred Chisolm, 52, was stabbed to death on the steps of an apartment complex at 723 King St. shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday. That’s the address listed for James Perrineau Jr., 64, who was arrested and charged with murder and use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a violent crime.

“Initial investigation revealed that the stabbing was the result of an ongoing dispute over several years between the suspect and the victim,” according to the incident report. There was no indication what they were arguing about the night of the stabbing.

Chisolm, who lived nearby, was stabbed multiple times in the torso and died there on the steps, according to the incident report.
