Charleston police release photo of suspect in car and pistol thefts

This man is suspected of stealing a car and a gun on James Island.

Charleston police are asking for help identifying a man suspected of stealing a car and a gun on James Island.

An unlocked car with the keys in it was stolen between 2:30 and 4 a.m. Feb. 7 on Harbortowne Road. It was found abandoned around 11 a.m. on Harbortowne Road.

A pistol was stolen between 8 p.m. Feb. 6 and 9:30 a.m. Feb. 7 from an SUV on Harbor Woods Circle.

The same man is suspected of stealing both the car and pistol, police spokesman Charles Francis said.

Anyone with information is asked to leave a tip with Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111 or call dispatch at 843-743-7200 and ask for the on-call Charleston police detective.
