Charleston police, NAACP holding listening session for community relations

Charleston residents with ideas about how to improve community and police relations will have a chance Wednesday to share.

The Charleston Police Department is hosting a 90-minute listening session at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the International Longshoremen’s Association at 1142 Morrison Drive. The session is sponsored by the Charleston chapter of the NAACP.

The discussion is part of the Charleston Illumination Project, which aims to improve trust between police and the Charleston community. Residents are invited to attend the event to share hopes, concerns and suggestions for action, according to a news release.
