Charleston firefighters extinguish flames on upper King Street

Charleston firefighters on Wednesday extinguished flames that ignited on upper King Street.

Authorities were notified shortly before 11:30 a.m. about the fire near the Line Street intersection, according to Charleston firefighters.

Flames were contained to the building’s first floor, firefighters reported. It’s unclear whether the structure, which appeared to be under renovation, was occupied, firefighters said.

The fire was reportedly under control about 10 minutes after firefighters arrived at the scene.
