Charleston County deputies will be more aggressive than usual July Fourth when it comes to pulling over anybody suspected of driving under the influence, Maj. Jim Brady said.

Traffic officers, including the HEAT unit (Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic) will be conducting enhanced enforcement of traffic violations throughout Charleston County, particularly those suspected of driving under the influence, from 6 p.m. Wednesday through 4 a.m. Thursday, he said.

“(Don’t) let one drink wreck your holiday,” Brady said. “Celebrate responsibly and to use a designated driver or call for a ride.”
