Charleston County Sheriff’s Office: Mother calls son to settle argument; he shoots man in leg

Clarence Green

A woman arguing with a man over a car sale called her son to intervene, and he shot the man in the leg, according to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.

Clarence Everette Green, 30, of Sirius Drive in Aiken is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Here’s what happened, according to the arrest warrant from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.

On Dec. 15, Green’s mother and a man were discussing a car sale on Heyward Smalls Road in Hollywood when the man accused her of damaging the car. Green’s mother called him to the scene, and he started arguing with the man. Green pulled out a pistol and shot the man in the calf and thigh.

A detective collected two 9 mm shell casings at the scene. Green’s mother said she had a 9 mm pistol but she didn’t know where it was at the time and she didn’t shoot it.

Green was being held in the Charleston County jail Wednesday on $175,000 bail.
