Charleston County Sheriff Al Cannon attended a two-day meeting this week about the use of force investigations in officer-involved shooting incidents, and how the high profile investigations are handled.
The meeting was hosted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Director Vernon Keenan, in Stockbridge, Ga., and was attended by 25 law enforcement professionals from 11 agencies, according to Charleston County Maj. Eric Watson.
He said the meeting focused on teaching the best practices used in use of force investigations. Cannon was invited to provide input from the local agency perspective.
Attending were representatives from investigative agencies from South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee and Louisiana.
