Charleston County residents invited to join state Sheriffs' Association

  • Updated

Charleston County sheriff’s deputies are inviting residents to become honorary members of the South Carolina Sheriffs’ Association, a news release states.

Appeals to join the voluntary program will be dispersed from Nov. 11 until Dec. 3, according to the release. Individuals can join for $25, and businesses for $50.

According to the release, the money helps provide technical resources, training and legislative support. Contributions are tax deductible.

“With government funding becoming increasingly difficult to secure, the membership drive has taken on greater importance than ever before,” Sheriff Al Cannon said in the release. “The funding is vital to helping us carry out our mission of making our communities safer places to live, work and play.”

The Sheriffs’ Association warned that the organization does not solicit contributions through telemarketing. Residents should hang up on anyone who calls seeking funds on the association’s behalf, the release states.

For more information visit or call the Sheriffs’ Association at 803-772-1101.
