Charleston County office building reopens after bomb threat

A bomb threat caused the Charleston County office building in downtown Charleston to be evacuated, but nothing was found.

Somebody called in the threat against the assessor’s office about 10 a.m., Charleston County Sheriff’s Maj. Eric Watson. The county building was evacuated, and the bomb squad was called in to assess the situation.

Around 11 a.m., Watson said that the building had been cleared and that all roads in the area had been reopened.

Streets near the building, including Meeting at Broad and Meeting at Queen, had been blocked off.

“There were no suspicious items found,” Watson said.
