Charleston County deputies investigating shooting that injured bystander

Charleston County deputies are investigating what appears to be a drive-by shooting at a convenience store Sunday that left a bystander wounded.

The shooting was reported just before 4:30 p.m. at the A-1 Food Mart, located at 5106 Dorchester Road. Video surveillance showed a vehicle pull up to the business, stop and then take off, according to an incident report released Monday.

Someone in the vehicle was shooting toward people in the parking lot, the report states.

A man standing in a yard on nearby Ranger Drive was struck by a single bullet in his rib area, according to the report. He was taken to Medical University Hospital.
