Charleston AFB plane makes another humanitarian airdrop

C-17s on the flight line

The Charleston Air Force Base's participation in the humanitarian assistance mission in Iraq is continuing after a C-17 cargo plane from Joint Base Charleston made another drop Sunday night, the base said.

"The mission successfully delivered 40 bundles of water for the displaced refugees in northern Iraq," the base said in a statement Monday. "We're proud of the contributions of our deployed teammates."

A plane from Charleston took part in the first drop of supplies last week to aid members of the persecuted Yazidi sect who are trapped in a mountainous area after having been displaced from their homes by the arrival of Islamic militants.
