The family of Brandy Renee Hanna will host a balloon release ceremonyWednesday night to mark the seventh anniversary of the North Charleston woman’s disappearance.

On May 20, 2005, Hanna got a ride home from her job at Alex’s Restaurant on Dorchester Road and talked to her mother from her Florida Avenue apartment.

She disappeared later that night, leaving all her possessions behind. No trace of her has ever been found. Police call it one of the most perplexing missing persons cases they’ve seen.

The balloon release ceremony will be at 7 p.m. at Alex’s Restaurant at 3713 Dorchester Road in North Charleston.
