HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — A man who called 911 after a Bluffton restaurant operator was shot last month said the bullet that hit Johnathan Cherol seemed to come from a nearby golf course.
Audio of the call was released to The Island Packet of Hilton Head on Tuesday after a Freedom of Information Act request by the newspaper.
The call was one of two made to 911 after Cherol was killed Oct. 28.
The caller said that there were three people at the Bluffton residence and two shots were fired, one of which hit the 33-year-old Cherol in the head.
Police have released few details of the shooting, except to say they think that Cherol was shot by someone who knew him and that the killing was not a random act.
