Body recovered from Shem Creek identified

The body of a 46-year-old man was recovered from Shem Creek on Monday, according to Mount Pleasant police.

Charleston County Deputy Coroner Dottie Lindsay identified him as Douglas Emery, Jr. and said he was from Summerville, but had been staying in Mount Pleasant. She said the cause and manner of death remained under investigation.

The Department of Natural Resources assisted Mount Pleasant police in the recovery. The Mount Pleasant Police Department has not returned calls or emails for further details.
