Body found near Yorktown on Monday identified

The identity of the body found in the water near the aircraft carrier Yorktown on Monday morning has been released.

She was Jennifer Maxson, 28, of Mount Pleasant, according to Charleston County Chief Deputy Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal. Maxson is believed to have jumped from the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge on Saturday, O’Neal said.

The Coast Guard, along with local firefighters and police officers, searched Charleston Harbor Saturday night after a report that a person had jumped from bridge.

Charleston police officers responded to the bridge about 10 p.m. and found a beach bag with Maxson’s belongings in it. Shortly after, dispatch received a call from a person on a boat reporting that he heard a loud splash just before 10 p.m., according to a police report.
