Bikers roll out to support veterans, raise awareness at Undy 500

Bikers enjoy perfect weather for the fifth annual Undy 500 that was held Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013.

More than 350 people participated in the fifth annual Undy 500 motorcycle charity ride, sponsored by Palmetto Goodwill that was held this past Sunday.

The ride, which covered more than 100 miles through the Lowcountry, helps raise awareness of homeless veterans and provides funding for programs and services that support local homeless and struggling veterans.

Riders donated thousands of pieces new undergarments to be distributed to veterans at the annual Stand Down Against Homelessness event, which will be held Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at Armory Park in North Charleston. Over $12,000 also was raised in support of local veterans.
