Berkeley Coroner: 33-year-old Bonneau man died in early Sunday crash

A 33-year-old Bonneau man died in an early Sunday crash in Moncks Corner, according to authorities.

Jonathan “Jay” LaSalle was traveling south around 4 a.m. on Cypress Gardens Road when his 2006 Nissan SUV went off the right side of the road and struck a metal gate, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury and the S.C. Highway Patrol.

LaSalle died at the scene. He was wearing a seat belt and his death was ruled accidental, Salisbury said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Salisbury’s office and the Highway Patrol.
