Bail set for suspects arrested in Berkeley County drug bust

The four people arrested in a drug sting operation in Berkeley County Friday went before a bond court judge this morning.

Investigators with multiple agencies conducted drug busts in two homes near Goose Creek, seizing about $35,000 worth of cocaine and marijuana.

“We had multiple reports that this area was heavily drug infested. Our narcotics team set its sights on this area of the county and following several undercover buys by agents, acted swiftly to carry out the operation that resulted in the arrests and seizure of drugs and weapons on Friday afternoon,” said Berkeley County Sheriff Wayne DeWitt in a statement.

Agents with the county’s Drug Enforcement Unit, the Goose Creek Police Department and Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Aeronautical Unit conducted the drug bust at two residences on Rutt Lane near Goose Creek, according to Dan Moon, public information officer with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.

Ricky Rutledge and Larry Donell Williams were arrested at 341 Rutt Lane, off Howe Hall Road. They were charged with trafficking cocaine, trafficking cocaine base, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, manufacturing marijuana and two counts of distribution near a school, Moon said. A judge set a $55,000 bail for Rutledge and an $85,000 bail for Williams.

Priscilla Renee Baylock and Darvis Armond Baylock of 346 Rutt Lane were both charged with trafficking cocaine, distribution near a school, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, possession of a stolen firearm and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. The judge set a $66,620 bail for Priscilla Baylock and a $60,620 bail for Darvis Baylock.

During the bust, officers seized 52 grams of cocaine, 57 grams of cocaine base, 139 grams of marijuana, 11 marijuana plants, four handguns and four shotguns. One of the handguns had been reported stolen out of Summerville, according to Moon.

All four are still being held at Hill Finklea Detention Center, Moon said. In connection to the case, investigators are also looking for two men with outstanding drug warrants; Marcus McBride, 51, and 21-year-old James Reese, 21.
