Bacteria levels are back to normal in Cove Creek following a sewage overflow on Back Street, Sullivan’s Island officials said.

A series of rainy days caused about 1,000 gallons of wastewater to overflow from a manhole on the street, according to the Sullivan’s Island Water and Sewer Department. Crews used a vacuum truck to clean the sewage.

Officials collected samples in cove creek and reported bacteria levels to the state health department. Authorities determined that bacteria levels are back to normal from station 19 to 16, department officials said.
