Authorities: Moped driver dies after crashing into mailbox

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Authorities say the driver of a moped died after crashing into a mailbox in Greenville County.

WYFF-TV reports that Greenville County Deputy Coroner Kent Dill said that Daniel Earl Terrell of Simpsonville was operating the scooter around 10 p.m. Friday.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said Terrell was coming around a corner, the moped went off the road and hit a mailbox.

Patrol Lance Cpl. Bill Rhyne said that after hitting the mailbox Terrell was thrown off the vehicle into a car.

Investigators said the 63-year-old didn’t have a helmet on.
