At least three people were wounded outside of a Dorchester Road bar early Sunday morning after North Charleston police say a man opened fire on customers and a security guard returned fire.

North Charleston police responded to Willie's Bar and Grill at 7880 Dorchester Road shortly after midnight, spokesman Spencer Pryor said.

Witnesses told officers that employees started getting customers to leave the bar following a disturbance in the bathroom, Pryor said.

The suspect reportedly went to his vehicle and then started back toward the bar and opened fire, Pryor said.

Two people were struck by gunfire and a third person had scrapes that may or may not have been from getting hit, he said. Pryor said a security officer returned fire but it wasn't clear whether anyone was hit.

Pryor said a person showed up at Roper Northwoods later seeking treatment for a gunshot wound. He said investigators are trying to determine if he was a victim in the shooting. No charges have been filed.

None of the injuries were life-threatening, he said.
