2 arrested in killing of couple who owned NC mattress store

YORK, S.C. — York County deputies say two people have been charged with murder in the killings of a husband and wife who were shot as they answered a knock on the door of their Lake Wylie home in October.

Deputies said Friday that 22-year-old Malcolm Hartley and 18-year-old Brianna Johnson were arrested with help from Charlotte, North Carolina, police and the FBI.

Investigators didn’t say whether there was a link between the deaths of 63-year-old Doug London and his 61-year-old wife, Debbie, and a robbery five months earlier at their Charlotte mattress store where one of the suspects was shot in the stomach.

It wasn’t known if Hartley or Johnson had lawyers.
