Forecasters warned motorists in the Lowcountry this morning to watch out for areas of dense fog.

Overnight rainfall and little wind created favorable conditions for phenomenon, according to the National Weather Service office in North Charleston.

While widespread problems were not expected, forecasters said pockets of poor visibility – about a quarter mile – were possible until 10 a.m.

A thunderstorm that pushed through the Charleston area before midnight brought lightning and 0.45 inches of rain, a majority of this month’s 0.52 total.

But today, overcast skies will clear gradually, and the temperature will reach 75 degrees, the weather service said.
