Three Charleston airport employees saved a woman’s life Wednesday after discovering her unresponsive in a car on the top floor of the parking deck.

Administration office workers Jane Eagerton, Jenny Cronkey and Sandy Pittman were walking around during their lunch hour when they noticed a woman slumped over in the back seat.

They knocked on the window, and when they didn’t get a response, they found the doors unlocked and the keys in the ignition.

“I touched her on the right arm and asked if she was OK,” Eagerton said. “She did not respond, and she was soaking wet.”

They called the airport’s communications department, which dispatched officers and emergency personnel to the scene.

The woman, who apparently left a suicide note, had been in the car for about 14 hours.

Emergency personnel escorted the woman to a local hospital, where she is recovering, according to airport officials.

Charleston County Aviation Authority recognized the three women Thursday during its monthly board meeting.
