After tranquil Easter, rising temperatures bring storminess to Charleston area

Easter Sunday started cool and sunny, but clouds and warmth are expected to move in and bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms at the start of the workweek.

The National Weather Service station for the Charleston area forecast a high temperature of 72 degrees Sunday.

But with rising temperatures during the week – the highs are expected to be nearly 80 degrees every day – will come the increasing chance of storminess.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 72. East wind 14 to 17 mph.

Sunday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 59. East wind 6 to 10 mph.

Monday: A slight chance of showers between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 76. East wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Monday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a low around 64. Southeast wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. Light south wind becoming southwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Tuesday night: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Wednesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 81. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Wednesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64.

Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 80. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Thursday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65.

Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 80. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Friday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
