The South Carolina Aquarium announced Monday it received a $380,000 gift from the New York-based Samuel Freeman Charitable Trust and a $10,000 donation from TD Bank's Charitable Foundation.

The larger donation will be used for conservation and education programs as the four-story tourist attraction overlooking Charleston Harbor enters its second decade.

The TD Bank grant will be used for the city-owned facility's Structured School Program, allowing selected children from across the state, many who are disadvantaged, to tour the aquarium for free and see first-hand conservation efforts.
