A heat advisory is in effect today, with the National Weather Service in Charleston calling for high temperatures in the mid to upper 90s. That, along with moderate levels of humidity will combine to produce heat index values of 105 to 108 degrees for a few hours this afternoon and early evening.

Tonight's forecast is partly cloudy, with a low around 80.

During a heat advisory, residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sunshine and check up on the elderly and stay in an air conditioned location if possible.
