The Aiken Land Conservancy and the City of Aiken will host a nature-filled afternoon on Sunday, Oct. 9 at the H. Odell Weeks Activities Center.
This free event, called "Down by the Bay," will feature an indoor presentation and book signing by renowned nature author Tom Poland about the phenomenon of Carolina bays at 1:30 p.m., followed by a visit to the Carolina Bay adjacent to Odell Weeks on Price Avenue.
Local artists will display their nature artwork and educational exhibits provided by the Silver Bluff Audubon Center and SRS Ecology Lab (including live animals) at 1 p.m.
The outdoor portion of the event will be held at the Carolina Bay on Price Avenue. In the event of rain, the outdoor exhibits will move indoors to the H. Odell Weeks Activities Center.
Seating is limited for the indoor presentation – please register in advance by calling 803-642-7631. No registration is necessary for the outdoor exhibit.
