Although the Western Carolina State Fair was canceled this year, its promoter is bringing a different fall experience to Aiken.
Reithoffer Shows Inc. will present Aiken Fall Fest: Fun-Size for All at the Western Carolina State Fairgrounds. Fall Fest will be Oct. 2-11. The event is "a fair on a smaller scale," according to a news release.
There will be approximately 20 rides on the fairgrounds, including rides for adults and children, in addition to food vendors and games.
Gates will open at 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Closing is crowd dependent, according to the release.
Reithoffer Shows is taking safety precautions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Guests will have their temperatures taken upon entrance, masks will be required throughout the fairgrounds, rides will be sanitized regularly and seating on rides will be modified for social distancing.
Gate entrance with no rides is $5, while gate entrance with unlimited rides is $20 Monday through Friday and $25 Saturday and Sunday.
“We are happy to be able to put on a fun event for the whole family,” said Pat Reithoffer, owner of Reithoffer Shows, in the release. “We will be taking many safety precautions, of course, to make sure our guests have a great experience and stay healthy.”
There will not be entertainment shows, vendors, booths, exhibits or agriculture.

This event is not the Western Carolina State Fair and is not affiliated with the Western Carolina State Fair Foundation.
In a Tuesday news release, the foundation said it was "with a heavy heart" that the 2020 fair was cancelled.
