Jackson woman dies from injuries days after being struck by vehicle

A Jackson woman who was hit by a vehicle last week died in the hospital Monday.

Tonya Hood, 51, died from her injuries, Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables reported.

Hood was hit while crossing Pine Log Road near Houndslake Drive around 9:30 p.m. May 1. The driver stayed on scene and was uninjured, according to Ables and S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Tyler Tidwell.

Highway Patrol is investigating the matter.
