Aiken County school district to host mega hiring event for multiple positions

Are you looking for a job?

Well, Aiken County Public School District might just have what you're looking for. For the first time, the school district is hosting a mega hiring event on Nov. 5.

Ashley Watson, certified staffing and recruitment coordinator for ACPSD, said individual hiring events are usually held, but the decision was made to host a mega event to show what the school district has open.

“(We) want to increase prospects for all candidates to experience the amazing opportunities our district has to offer and showcase during a mega hiring event,” Watson said. “That way all schools can be represented and all the applicants can go around and see which schools are a good fit for them and have that interaction with the staff at the table. An event on this scale has not been offered before, but we want our community to know that our students need you and your support overall in the educational experience they receive.”

The school district is looking to fill over 200 openings, with a majority being support staff positions, Watson said.

“We have current teaching vacancies, paraprofessional roles, those roles do require 60 college credit hours or taking the paraprofessional exam,” Watson said. “We have support staff positions which include custodians, school food service, maintenance, clerical roles, and then transportation vacancies.”

During the event, on-site interviews will be available, Watson said. She encouraged interested applicants to apply online through the online portal that can be found by going to, going to the employment tab, clicking job openings, clicking external applicants and clicking on the recruitment tab in the upper right corner of job list.

By doing this, they will receive an interview time before the hiring event, but people can walk-in during the event, Watson said. Those who want to get an interview time prior need to apply by Nov. 2. She added that December teaching graduates are highly encouraged to attend the event.

“Special education aides also have an opportunity to apply for a scholarship program through SC Create to earn their bachelor's degree for special education,” Watson said.

Those who attend the event will need to bring their resumes, and those applying for teacher positions will need to have valid certificates, Watson said.

Hope Mullins, the classified recruitment and staffing specialist, said there will be school buses so event that people interested in a transportation position can view them and check them out.

“I think this will be a good opportunity, I'm excited,” Watson said.

The school district also said that future teachers are invited to sign-up for an interview because they will also be hiring for the 2023-24 school year, along with the current vacancies.

The mega hiring event will be held on Nov. 5 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Aiken High School. For questions, email Watson at or Mullins at or call 803-641-2428. To see a full list of openings or to schedule your interview online visit
