FILE PHOTO/Marie Rodriguez In celebration of Independence Day, there will be numerous family-friendly fireworks events around town tonight, including Mount Pleasant, Summerville, North Charleston, Goose Creek and elsewhere.

What: Colombia’s tall ship ARC GLORIA, the training ship of the Colombian Navy,will be docked at Union Pier and local residents will have the opportunity to board and tour the ship, featuring cadets on their goodwill training cruise and an exhibition of photos and posters with guided narration of Colombian history, heritage and culture.

When: 10 a.m.-noon and 2-6 p.m.

Where: Union Pier Terminal, Laurens and Concord streets, downtown Charleston

What: Spend the day at the home of Arthur Middleton, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Readings of the Declaration and interactive demonstrations will take place throughout the day, with Revolutionary War soldiers in their camp, a hands-on military drill, learning how to make musket cartridges and a family activities tent with colonial crafts. At 12:30 p.m., there will be a re-enactment of a toast offered by Gen. Nathaniel Green, commanding general of the Southern Continental Army.

What: The City of North Charleston’s Fourth of July Festival will feature musical guests, children’s activities, food trucks, beer and wine stations and a large fireworks show. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets, as there is no seating provided. Performers include the Palmetto Percussion Drum Line, Jump Castle Riot, On The Border: The Ultimate Eagles Tribute Band, Funk Factory Five and more.

What: Guests can watch the fireworks from the grassy area next to the marsh onshore, with live music and children’s entertainment. Food and beverages will be available for purchase and coolers and chairs are welcome. The event aboard the USS Yorktown is sold out.

Where: Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum, 40 Patriots Point Road, Mount Pleasant

What: The Town of Summerville's Red, White and Blue on the Green will feature a kid's zone with games and prizes, a beer garden, food vendors, live music from Triple Dog Dare and a fireworks finale. No large coolers or pets permitted. Shuttle trolleys will run from Hutchinson Square.

When: 5:30-9:30 p.m.

Where: Gahagan Park, 515 West Boundary St., Summerville
