North-area resident reports home invasion by three armed men

Three men with guns burst into a north-area residence early Wednesday morning demanding money, according to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.

The crime was reported around 2:30 a.m. on Winchester Street, which is off Ashley Phosphate Road near Interstate 26. One of the men told a female resident he would start shooting if he didn’t get his money, according to the incident report. The resident said the man fired a shot, although deputies said they found no evidence of it.

The men made off with a half ounce of weed, several cell phones, more than $1,000 in cash and coins, a curved silver knife and recently purchased merchandise from Wal-Mart, according to the report. The woman’s boyfriend came out of his bedroom and ran after the men as they fled.

All the men with guns were black. One was described as light-skinned with several tattoos and another as dark-skinned with short dreads. There was no description of the third man.
